Comfort Zone

Carol Wiersma and Felicity Watson thank all who came to the January Comfort Zone workshop.  Twenty six quilt kits were prepared from 10 inch squares
most of which were made by
Liz Buchroeder, queen of the rotary cutter.
At the February 24 Comfort Zone Workshop
(9 to 3 in the Pool Pavilion), more kits need to be made and quilt tops need to be assembled.
Thanks to every one's good work last year, there are 10 quilts and 10 tote bags already completed.

   Membership Time

2016 dues are due--$25 for the calendar year from January to December, $15 if you live off the hill.  Send them in to POB 6138 or bring them to our next meeting.  Make checks out to PMSQG.
If
dues are a financial hardship this year, please talk with one of our officers about alternate means of funding your membership.  No one is ever excluded from the Guild or a guild activity because of money.

Library

From our February 4 Meeting

Welcome to our new member, Jill Lowe.

It must be winter. Sue Hochstein is here.

              Sunshine

Felicity Watson sends her love to all.  She's taking the winter off in hopes avoiding colds and flu.

Fran Burras is well but Bob is not.  Fran says at the moment she is okay with Bob's needs.  Let's keep Fran and Bob in our prayers and thoughts.
Check in with Fran to see if she needs any respite time .

Mary McDevitt is having her legs worked on, actually some knee surgery.  She's prepared meals ahead for Jim to pop in the oven.

Refreshments

Ginny Duhm baked us some fabulous goodies.
Next month, the 3M's-Margaret, Marie and Marie. MMM!

Block Party

Gayle Gentile Royal won these to add to the 10 blocks she made.
See Show & Tell to see how she uses them.

For March, Beth Worrell presents "Irish Paid" appliqué.

Big hint--use lots and lots of starch, or gluestick or vodka and water mix to stiffen the strips.  Another hint--don't stretch the strips as much as they beg you to stretch them.
About vodka and water. ....80/20 mix.  Spray it on the fabric.
You can do whatever you want with the rest.

Show & Tell
Lorena Lewis made this skateboard quilt for her grandson.

Mary McDevitt and Kathy Weinstein demonstrate their shopping skills from Road to California.
Brie Kriebel makes wearable art.  Here's her website:

Bev Cressey took a machine quilting class at RTC.  Here's a bit of detail from her  sampler.
Gayle Gentile Royal bought the kit in the center thinking "How cute, all the little animals" only to find out the pattern had 500 pieces!  She put it together and bordered it with Blocks of the Month she won a while back.
Another thing about this quilt top, it's Gayle's one and only UFO this year.

 Quilting Snowball
Beth Worrell listens to a financial radio show where the host suggest listing your debts from the least to the most and then paying off the least first to get them out of the way.  He describes it as a "debt snowball."
She translated this idea to UFOs.
List your UFOs from the most completed to the least completed.  Then finish the most completed and work down the list.  This way you are more than likely to get rid of some UFOs.
It's a Quilting Snowball.

Here's a tip tutorial on how to keep strip width uniform by using a template.

and another from RTC about effective ironing.
