Dear Editor,

Re “LETTER: Kingston superintendent’s ‘whining’ about state aid is ironic,” by Sam Fratto, Jan. 29, 2016: Fratto, the business manager of local IBEW No. 363, complains about school Superintendent Paul Padalino “not thinking about taxpayers wallets”.

What chutzpah. Several years ago, during the time that Central Hudson was on the verge of being taken over by Fortis, the Canadian behemoth, and the public were trying to prevent that from happening, the “good” International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers came to our meetings, one, at the Kingston City Hall, to implore us for support for their labor negotiations with Central Hudson. We understood that those negotiations would work against Fortis’ bid to take over Central Hudson, with a corresponding rate increase.

Next thing we knew was that we were sold out, that the brave and honest IBEW made a private negotiation with Fortis, and that that was done in secret from the public, with no explanation or apology.

Now Fratto has the gall to point his finger (?) at anyone who he deems to disregard the public’s need. Has his ‘Brotherhood’ no shame?
