Dear Editor,
ISIS is a word used by many to express ISIL, jihadists, barbarians, caliphates, etc., based on recent events or ideology.
My wife and I just returned from Vietnam and Cambodia and visited Killing Fields in Cambodia. In Cambodia, Pol Pot and his government killed one out of every four citizens – including the ones who wore glasses, “because they read too much” – to take Cambodia back to its old glory in the 10th century, very similar to ISIS wanting to go back to the Caliphate. This human travesty has to be stopped now by the actions of the whole world, before we face the aftereffects of global warming. Sad to say that there are educated people with glasses believing that the global warming is a hoax.
The United States, European Union, Russia, China and neighboring countries like Syria, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Israel, etc., should unite in common goal and wipe ISIS clean with little trace left, just like al-Qaida. There are less than 100,000, members of ISIS. There is plenty of air power between Russia, France, United Kingsdom, United States, Israel and Turkey to annihilate ISIS, coordinated with ground forces from Kurds, Iraq, Iran, Hezbollah, and Syria. If we can kill the Caliph hiding in Raqqua, we can stop the export of terror to the free world through social media.
Assad of Syria has to go with the help of Russia and Iran, as he created the power vacuum in Syria which enabled Al Bagdadi to come to power and terrorize the citizens.
We should not forget that the invasion of Iraq by President George W. Bush and the neocons was the mother of all causes. World history is littered with reaction to every action gone wrong.
