Dear Editor,

Re “Kingston High School renovation delayed and reduced in size, but cost is unchanged ,” March 25, 2015:I am mystified by what passes for logic and reason in the world of academia. The Kingston school district designs a new high school with 420,000 square feet and a price tag of $137.5 million and us taxpayers agree. Then the district removes 60,000 square feet from that design and the price tag remains at $137.5 million.

By my calculations, the price tag should be $118,3 million.

At the very least, the district should have said in their press release that they were calculating the newer price tag and will get back to us taxpayers by this date to tell us what the new price tag will be and what the taxpayers share of it will be.

As they say in show business, “School district front and center”.
