ROSENDALE >> A school bus driver was injured Wednesday when his bus was hit by a pickup that crossed the double-yellow line on Dewitt Mills Road, state police said.

There were no passengers on the full-size Arthur F. Mulligan bus when the accident happened about 11:35 a.m., according to Sgt. John Fisher.

A Dodge pickup driven by Michael McSpirit, 18, of Saugerties, crossed the double-yellow line on a sharp curve and struck the bus, Fisher said. McSpirit was ticketed for failing to keep right, a violation.

The bus driver, Daniel Knoth, 22, of New Paltz, complained of back pain and was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus in Kingston, Fisher said.
