Lloyd >> The town of Lloyd has been awarded a $100,000 grant by Scenic Hudson for the expansion of the Hudson Valley Rail Trail. The grant will help defray the local matching cost for the town’s Hudson Valley Rail Trail West-Phase 3 project, which will extend the 3.6-mile trail another 0.7 miles from Tony Williams Park to New Paltz Road.

Ulster County recently received federal Transportation Alternative Program funding to begin planning phase four of the trail, which will further extend it to South Street in New Paltz.

It connects via the Walkway Over the Hudson to another 13 miles along the Dutchess Rail Trail.

According to a press release issued by County Executive Michael Hein, the Scenic Hudson grant was made at his requiest and helps support his plan for an interconnected rail trail network connecting the Walkway Over the Hudson to the Ashokan Reservoir and Catskill Park.
