Tell Mayor de Blasio: Fire ALL Officers Involved in Killing Ramarley!

In 2012, Ramarley Graham was stalked and gunned down by NYPD Officer Richard Haste after several officers busted into his home without a warrant or legal cause. Ramarley wasmurdered in what should have been the safety of his own home in front of his grandmother and 6-year-old brother. He was not committing a crime and was unarmed. Immediately following the unjust shooting, police officers quickly began covering their tracks by promoting false statements about the incident, some of which were later retracted, and even moving Ramarley’s body just minutes after he was killed. NYPD officers even tried to intimidate Ramarley's family by threatening his grandmother at gunpoint and interrogating her for 7 hours, and assaulting his mother at the precinct.

After a local judge threw out a grand jury indictment and a second grand jury failed to indict, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) launched an investigation, but after two years, decided to take the word of one officer instead of convening a grand jury to assess all the officers’ actions. The NYPD has failed to take disciplinary action against Officer Haste or any of the cops involved in the abuse of Ramarley’s family or attempted cover up. The de Blasio administration and NYPD Commissioner Bratton have claimed that DOJ requested they hold off on disciplinary proceedings, but Ramarley’s family and activists were told no such request was ever made. Ramarley’s family has yet to receive justice or see any accountability for his killing and their abusive treatment by the NYPD.

Mayor de Blasio and NYC Police Commissioner William Bratton claim to be reforming the NYPD, but they need to demonstrate that their commitment goes beyond rhetoric and PR announcements. They are now out of excuses for keeping these cops on the NYPD at the expense of New Yorkers. Join Ramarley's family in demanding the firing of Officer Haste and all officers involved in the killing, and subsequent abusive treatment and attempted cover up.

Tell Mayor de Blasio to Fire Officer Richard Haste and ALL the officers responsible for killing Ramarley and abusively treating his family and covering up the murder NOW:

Dear Mayor de Blasio and Commissioner Bratton:

The local grand jury and the Department of Justice have failed 18-year-old Ramarley Graham, who was fatally shot by Officer Richard Haste. The lack of police accountability is what perpetuates these deadly police shootings in Black communities.

You have pledged to strengthen the relationship between NYPD and the community. It is time for you and your administration to demonstrate your commitment to this by firing Officer Richard Haste and all officers involved in the killing of Ramarley Graham as well as attempts to cover up the killing by providing false reports and intimidating members of the Graham family.

It has been four years since Ramarley was murdered. How much longer will you make the family wait for justice?

    Sincerely,
