Friends! Arsians! Lend me your ears—and your résumés, because we are a-hiring!

Ars is looking to hire a tech reviewer and gadgetologist to join our butt-kicking gadget review team. Perks of the job include being able to argue about Android in-person with Ron Amadeo, hear wisdom from Andrew Cunningham's Reviews Cat, touch Peter Bright's glorious beard, and maybe even down some Soylent shots with me in a well-ventilated location. We need someone who's sharp, tech-savvy, personable, and who doesn't mind appearing on camera, since you're going to see a lot more video on Ars in the near future.

There are two catches: first, this is not an entry-level job. We need someone who's been in the reviewing game before, at least a bit, and we need to see some writing samples. Second: you have to be in the New York City area, no exceptions.

Here's our formal job description, which says a bit more about the expectations:

Ars is looking for a product reviews specialist. The right person will be a skilled computing enthusiast, which means they should be adept in Windows and OS X, and knowledgable about all the major popular mobile platforms. The job will involve producing both report-length (500-1,000 words) and feature-length (2,000+ words) reviews of gadgets spanning the entire gadget spectrum, from smartphones to ultrabooks to wearables to just about anything else. The position will also involve writing daily news blurbs about gadget-related happenings.

This position will work closely with our senior Apple and Android editors, along with the rest of the Ars staff, to expand the breadth of our reviews coverage.

The position requires attending some industry events in New York City (sometimes alone, and sometimes assisting other members of the Ars product reviews team) and writing up those events. The ideal candidate will be comfortable appearing on camera and traveling a few times a year (including possibly internationally).

This is a full-time position with benefits, including insurance and 401(k), reporting to the Ars Technica editor-in-chief. Salary is competitive with similar positions in industry. Candidates must have professionally published gadget reviews before and must provide links to samples. Although this is primarily a work-from-home position, candidates must be located in the New York City area and be willing to come into 1 World Trade Center as needed.

If you're in the city and you think this job is for you, apply right here. We'll begin reviewing applications by the end of next week!
