EW has learned VanZant will appear alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dave Bautista, and Gina Carano in the second installment of the trilogy. The follow up to Kickboxer: Vengeance hits theaters and VOD in September. Producers are collaborating now to create a role and character for VanZant in the film. “Paige is the up and coming darling of the UFC and her star quality shines through on camera. She’s a tremendous asset to the film both as an onscreen talent and as a trainer fighter,” said Kickboxer producer Rob Hickman in a statement. Kickboxer: Retaliation sends Kurt Sloan (newcomer Alain Moussi) back to Thailand to fend for his life against a new foe, Mongkut (Game of Thrones‘ Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays The Mountain). Dimitri Logothetis (Stephen King’s Sleepwalkers), who holds two black belts, is the writer/producer of Kickboxer: Vengeance, and is set to direct the sequel. The film is currently filming in California and Nevada and will head back to Thailand in June. VanZant, together with Nyle DiMarco and Ginger Zee, will vie for the Mirror Ball Trophy on Monday’s finale of Dancing with the Stars.
