East Belfast is usually a good spot for a fish supper on a Saturday night, but not if your catch of the day is littered across the road.

Motorists had the opportunity to carp when this scene greeted them on the Ravenhill Road at its junction with My Ladys Road, after a vehicle shed its load.

The slippery surface that resulted from the spill meant pedestrians could have ended up with an unexpected skate.

Police said they had contacted environmental health officers to clean up the road.

It means the plaice can now get back to normal.
