David Bridie

David Bridie

David Bridie is a hugely respected singer/songwriter and screen composer, famous for his years in bands Not Drowing Waving and My Friend the Chocolate Cake. His music has often engaged with social issues from independence for West Papua to refugee rights.

“I believe we need to make a stand against the damage caused by burning fossil fuels. Making money out of high carbon emitting industries is little different from investing in asbestos. We know that it’s very damaging, so regardless of the profit line, we need to make a moral stand here for the sake of the future. Banks need to have spine. Banks need to be involved with ethical investment.”

David Bridie recorded this video explaining why he has left Commonwealth Bank and  encouraging others to join the fossil fuel divestment movement.
