The killing of Reeva Steenkamp by athlete Oscar Pistorius is being turned into an ITV documentary.

Award-winning investigative reporter Mark Williams-Thomas , whose The Other Side Of Jimmy Savile helped expose the late presenter as a paedophile, has been spending time in South Africa looking into the case.

Fallen athletic star Oscar shot model Reeva dead on Valentine’s Day 2013, claiming he thought she was a robber hiding in the bathroom at their home in Pretoria.

A source said: “Mark has been talking to all the key players involved in the trial to get a balanced view of what actually happened.

The source continued: “Mark’s Jimmy Savile show was extremely well-received so ITV are confident he will deliver something as strong with Pistorius.

“He has been spending months getting together footage to show both sides of the argument so viewers can themselves decide whether or not they support Pistorius’ version of events.

“The programme should create a real talking point.”

Pistorius, 29, spent 10 months in isolation at Kgosi Mampuru II jail in Pretoria after he was given a five year prison sentence for culpable homicide and three year suspended sentence for reckless endangerment.

After being released on house arrest his appeal request was granted and his conviction was overturned and replaced with a murder charge.

He will be sentenced on June 16.

The source added: “The world is still fascinated to know whether Oscar really is guilty or if it was a genuine accident that he killed Reeva.

“In a few weeks time when he’s back in court everyone will be once again talking about the couple and this tragic turn of events.”
