Gustafsson and Johnson Ready to Make History

UFC FIGHT NIGHT™: GUSTAFSSON vs. JOHNSON - JANUARY 24, 2015 - TELE2 ARENA, STOCKHOLM

TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28

London, UK –  Just under two months before one of the most highly anticipated light heavyweight fights, and the second biggest UFC event in history, contenders Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson visited their fight location in Stockholm, Sweden to address each other and some the world’s media.

Although each athlete voiced an admiral respect for one another, it was evident that this will be a truly epic fight with each fighter defiant in their predicted victory. Both Gustafsson and Johnson have made it clear that this is a pivotal moment in their careers, and a bout which will propel one fighter straight into world title contention.

No. 1 ranked light heavyweight Gustafsson and No. 3 ranked Johnson will meet at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm on Saturday January 24th in a highly anticipated main event bout, which will determine the next UFC® light heavyweight title challenger.

More than 30,000 fans are expected to flock to the Tele2 Arena on the night; marking the second major stadium event in UFC history, and the first ever stadium event that the organisation has hosted in Europe.

Tickets for the historic UFC FIGHT NIGHT™: GUSTAFSSON vs. JOHNSON event will be available to the general public on Friday, Nov. 28 via AXS.com/UFC.

The two light heavyweights were this week in agreement that, regardless of the result, fans in attendance on the night can expect a truly unforgettable main event battle inside the Octagon™.

“It doesn’t get better than this.” said Gustafsson. “I’m living the dream. I’m fighting in my hometown, and I’m fighting for my hometown. Preparation is going well already. I have got a great team around me. But he's strong, he's a great fighter and I have a lot of respect for him as a fighter. I have to be on my game and better than before.”

And Gustafsson is hoping that the Swedish fans turns out in their thousands to support him on the night:  “My fans mean everything to me. I thank them for the support. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them.”

Johnson too is excited at the prospect of fighting in the second biggest UFC event in history: “It's an honour to be able to fight in front of so many people. The arena is beautiful. In the US we have maybe 8-12 thousand people and it's a great atmosphere, so this – 30,000 - is going to be something else!”

But while the No.3 ranked Johnson is thrilled to be headlining an event of epic proportions, he is still focused on the task at hand:  “Camp is going well” he said. “By Jan 24, I'll be in excellent, perfect shape. I'm not fighting 30,000 people; I'm fighting one man.”
