FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- A group of student-athletes from the Fairmont State University athletic department participated in an anti-bullying campaign at Watson Elementary School last week.
The group of student-athletes, representing the acrobatics & tumbling, football and swimming teams at FSU, met with K-4
th grade students. The athletes first met with K-2
nd graders and read them a story about the difference between telling to get someone in trouble and telling in order to prevent negative behavior that can be harmful.
Next, the group met with 3
rd and 4
th graders and showed them a video about bullying. Following the video, the athletes talked about how to prevent bullying at school and how to create a positive environment and answered several questions from the engaged boys and girls.
"It was a really great experience for not only the kids at Watson Elementary School, but also our student-athletes to help make positive changes in a local school," said Fairmont State swimming coach,
Pat Snively. "I want to thank Mr. Hixenbaugh from Watson Elementary for reaching out and giving our student-athletes this excellent opportunity."
