FSU Athletes Participate In Anti-Bullying Campaign

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- A group of student-athletes from the Fairmont State University athletic department participated in an anti-bullying campaign at Watson Elementary School last week.

The group of student-athletes, representing the acrobatics & tumbling, football and swimming teams at FSU, met with K-4th grade students. The athletes first met with K-2nd graders and read them a story about the difference between telling to get someone in trouble and telling in order to prevent negative behavior that can be harmful.

Next, the group met with 3rd and 4th graders and showed them a video about bullying. Following the video, the athletes talked about how to prevent bullying at school and how to create a positive environment and answered several questions from the engaged boys and girls.

"It was a really great experience for not only the kids at Watson Elementary School, but also our student-athletes to help make positive changes in a local school," said Fairmont State swimming coach, Pat Snively. "I want to thank Mr. Hixenbaugh from Watson Elementary for reaching out and giving our student-athletes this excellent opportunity."

"I was extremely proud of our student-athletes. It was certainly a great day to be a Falcon!"
