EDGEwise Forum :: Linked Learning Pathways

In 2014, a collaboration between local corporations, schools districts and NextEd secured $21 million in Grant money from the State of California to further develop work-based learning, particularly around 'Linked Learning' Pathways. These pathways are industry specific and closely align high school and college classes to skills desired by employers in their pathway industry. Join our panelists for a conversation on how local employers are getting involved - and ways you and your company can help increase student engagement and high school graduation rates for the Sacramento Region!

Secondary Education + Vocational School = Highly Skilled Young Professionals!

Here in Sacramento, some of the most influential leaders of the “Linked Learning”initiative are utilizing grant funding to better prepare and retain our future YPs. Currently, local high schools and community colleges implement “Linked Learning” Pathways, which combine rigorous academics, demanding technical education, excellent personalized student supports, and real-world experience. These programs involve vocational skills that are organized around 21st century themes such as digital media arts, engineering, green energy, health sciences, law, and justice. Overall, these programs lead to higher graduation rates, increased college enrollments, and higher earning potential. While enjoying heavy appetizers, find out how you and your company can contribute to the ongoing mission of ensuring that the Sacramento region students of today, become the skilled young professionals needed to continue the region’s positive trajectory far into the future.
