Description

The National Academy of Public Administration cordially invites you to a panel discussion Changing Government.

Employees working in governmental agencies at all levels face difficult challenges every day. Local governments face the task of repairing infrastructure in the face of reduced revenues. State governments have similar infrastructure maintenance issues; they also will need to contend with health-care issues brought on by the impending wave of baby boomer retirements. Federal workers must work in the face of budget uncertainties, transitions of power that bring about mission changes and low public confidence in their work.

Over the next three years, governmental agencies will experience many changes as the workforce undergoes transitions in both demographics and technology. Workforce generational shifts, talent retention and the pace of technological change are all top-of-mind concerns at federal, state and local government institutions. As older workers retire and younger workers bring in new ways of working, governmental agencies of all types will need to practice change management to keep pace with their respective missions. A high level panel discussion will be followed by a keynote address by the Honorable Davita Vance-Cooks, the Director of the U.S. Government Publishing Office.

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 8:30 am – 11:30 am, at The University Club, 1135 16th St, NW, Washington, DC 20036.
