Super Chargers at CSS

(Editor's Note: The following is the first in a series, looking at the senior Athletes of the Year — plus other athletic award winners — from the 2014-15 season at Belleville high schools.)
The top trio of senior athletes at Centennial Secondary School this year share many outstanding traits, but one is most common to all three — leadership.
Curtis Courneya, Blake Reid and Caroline Simons are the senior Athletes of the Year at Centennial and were recently honoured at the CSS post-season awards banquet.
Longtime Centennial teacher-coach Deb Clare said all three Chargers possess tremendous leadership qualities.
“Caroline is a natural leader and very committed and dedicated to each team she played for,” said Clare. “Blake is looked up to by our younger athletes and is always very appreciative and very respectful.
“Curtis is a quiet leader, leading more by example.”
Other major award winners at CSS were:
Caitlin Mann, Alex Dodson and Nick Hoey, junior Athletes of the Year; Mickaula Douglas and Carson Waite, Grade 9 Athletes of the Year; Sierra Peck and Zack Mullins, outstanding contribution to athletics; Kennedy Peck, Beth Musclow Memorial Award; Maddie Pierson, Charger Spirit Award; Erin Cassibo, Curtis Courneya and Dwayne Woodcock, OFSAA Sportsmanship and Leadership Award; and Benj Vandewalle, the Pat Carty Memorial Award.
