CAPMAS highlights strong US-Egypt economic trade

CAPMAS issued Thursday a summary of economic relations between Egypt and the US which included the size of import and exports between the two countries, the size of US investments in Egypt, and the number of US tourists.
 
The total Egyptian exports to all countries of the world reached LE189.7 billion in 2014 compared to LE199.9 billion in 2013, with a decrease of 5,1 percent. Egypt’s exports to US reached LE8 billion in 2014 equal to 4.2 percent of the total exports, and with a decline equal to 6.6 percent compared to Egypt’s exports to US in 2013.
 
The exports of clothing and furniture to US ranked first with LE4.9 billion in 2014 with 61.3 percent of total exports and with a decrease equal to 8 percent compared to 2013.
 
Imports from other countries reached LE504.8 billion in 2014 compared to LE456 billion in 2013 with an increase of 10.7 percent.
 
US imports to Egypt reached LE36.8 billion in 2014 with a rate equal to 7.3 percent from all imports, and with an increase equal to 3.3 percent compared to 2013.
 
Iron imports from the US ranked first with LE5.4 billion in 2014 with a decrease equal to 15 percent compared to 2013.
 
Animal and plant products, beverages and tobacco imports reached 38.8 percent in 2014, 33.2 percent in 2013 from the total value of the commodity groups of imports.
 
The US investments in Egypt reached LE93.7 mllion in 2014 compared to LE82.7 million in 2013 with an increase of 13.3 percent.
 
Total US tourists reached 154,600 thousand tourists in 2014 compared to 147,600 in 2013 with an increase of 4.7 percent.
 
The number of tourist nights by US tourist reached 1.7 million in 2014 compared to 1.6 million in 2013 with an increase of 2.3 percent.
