What’s on this week

Want to study the role of psychology in PR, attend an advanced writing course or find a new job? These are just some of the options for the next 10 days.

Whats on this weekHere’s my regular look at what’s going on in the world of comms, so you can plan your diaries from 24 May to 3 June 2015 and keep updated.

Of particular note is a course from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR): The role of psychology in campaign design.

It’s being led by Dr Jon White and Leona Deakin. It covers topics such as how psychology is relevant to PR, the challenges of influencing attitudes and behaviours, the psychology of communication and real-life examples of successful psychologically influenced campaigns.

See the CIPR website for full info and to book tickets.

Free book for PR pros – PRStack

prstack-shareimg-01-1024x512Over the past week, a new publication has been released, which I recommend checking out.

It’s a crowdsourced project called #PRStack, curated and edited by comms supremo and ex-CIPR President Stephen Waddington, @wadds. It’s a cracking read, and free too.

The publication tackles the modern public relations workflow and is packed with case studies by PR practitioners, exploring modern aspects of public relations practice.

My #PRstack: a practical guide to modern PR tools and workflow is out now and available free to download.

There are 19 contributors and 40+ practical how-to examples of tools used in public relations, content marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO). They include Brandwatch, Topsy, Moz, Hemingway, Sprout Social, Lissted and many more.

The book is distributed free under a Creative Commons license via the #PRstack community. You can download the book and check out the content for yourself.

I recommend not only downloading the book, but seeing the PRstack site. Well done Wadds and everyone involved in the project.
