Marine unit officers and volunteers are helping in the search for a south Wales pensioner who has gone missing on the Isle of Wight.

Michael Davies, 71, from Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, was staying at a hotel with his wife Pat when he disappeared late on Tuesday.

A police helicopter has also been searching across the island and in the Sandown area where he was staying.

On Friday, Hampshire Constabulary urged residents to check gardens and sheds.

It has shared its appeal with mainland ports and transport terminals in case Mr Davies had got confused and tried to make his way home.

The force said Mr Davies wandered off after dinner at the Hotel Maria in Sandown at 21:30 BST.

CCTV images later show him less than half a mile inland from the seaside hotel.
