BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hamburg native and co-creator Tilke Hill used Western New York as the set for a new series called “Why I Murdered My Roommate.”

The pilot, filmed and based in Buffalo, is a dark comedy using flashback series to tell the story. Hill plays the character of EZ, who is a Polish second-generation immigrant and performance artist. The show also includes “tree people,” “snail ladies,” and even a Kardashian-wannabe.

The show uses popular Buffalo landmarks for different scenes, including: Silo City, The Pierce Arrow Building and Broadway Street during Dyngus Day celebrations. Hill says the crew chose Buffalo because of all the “awesome architecture and beautiful places that are here.”

Western New Yorkers will be able to catch a special screening of “Why I Murdered My Roommate” this fall in North Buffalo. Hill says they are hoping to show the pilot at North Park Theater before it’s released nationally.
