Helping a student do better

My name is Robert, I am 26 years old and for the last year I have been living in my car in Los Angeles.
During this period I was consistently employed and working, I barely told anyone of my situation and I never once begged for money with the exception of asking a friend once for $20 so I could go to work. I would sleep in the hills of the SFV and I utilized a 24 hour McDonald's as my personal restroom and kitchen.
Even though I was working I was not making very much ($8/hr at the time) and living in my car was more expensive than I had expected. Driving around looking for places to spend my time, and excess wear and tear from driving all the time made it almost impossible to save anything.
Since then I have found something and I now live in a run-down office building with some other people in downtown Los Angeles.
When I moved in in January the original plan was for all of us to work together to remodel and fix the unit.
I invested a lot of time and money into this place on supplies and cleaning, only to have no one help me in return. The unit also has a roach problem and since I moved in I was told they would be taken care of.
Other than that I am constantly dealing with people coming and going at all hours, and the drama from the couple who already lives here.
I have signed up and begun attending school since I've arrived here, and all I want now is a peaceful place to study and relax.
I would like to take this money and put down on an apartment of my own, and possibly use a little to repair my car from all the stress I've put it through in the last year.
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you have a wonderful day.
