The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has released its preseason poll, naming Morrisville State College as the favorite to win the men’s soccer title in 2015.

Morrisville garnered 10 of a possible 12 first place votes after finishing 16-3-1 in 2014 with a 9-1 conference stint. The Mustangs return a total of 25 players to the upcoming season, including five first team All-Conference selections and an NSCAA Second Team All-American in senior Danny Peckham, as well as reigning NEAC Goalkeeper of the Year Rob Larkin (Clinton).

Morrisville State will have their test early on, facing nationally ranked programs in SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Cortland and the University of Rochester before beginning conference play on September 11 against Penn College.

The Mustangs opened on Tuesday, Sept. 1, against NSCAA preseason third nationally-ranked SUNY Oneonta. Morrisville State also received votes in the NSCAA Preseason Top 25 National Rankings.

The women’s team was picked to finish eighth over all in the league’s preseason poll. Two-time defending champion, Penn State Berks, was selected as the preseason favorite, garnering 10 first place votes after finishing 18-3 just a year ago.

The Mustangs compiled a 9-7 overall record in 2014, including a 6-6 conference stint. They open their season Saturday, Sept. 5, at John Jay College. Morrisville State begins conference play on Friday, Sept. 11, hosting Penn College, who was picked to finish ninth.
