Monaco's Royal Wedding, Round Two! Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo Hold Religious Wedding in Italy

It is time for the second act of Monaco’s royal wedding.

Following their civil ceremony last Saturday at Monaco’s royal palace, Pierre Casiraghi and his new wife Beatrice Borromeo held the religious ceremony of their wedding in Italy on Saturday, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera confirms. followed by a party in a castle overlooking a lake.

As with the weddings of her other direct family members (including half-sisters Lavinia and Isabella), the daughter of Count Carlo Ferdinando Borromeo and Countess Paola Marzotto exchanged religious vows on one of the Italian aristocratic family s Borromean Islands (an archipelago of three small islands and two islets in Lake Maggiore.

The wedding weekend kicked off on Friday when the couple hosted a cocktail party at Rocca di Angera in the northern Italian town of Pallanza.

The bride and groom were seen arriving wearing white and cream ensembles, with Borromeo sporting flowers in her hair.

Guests at the Friday party included model Eva Herzigova, Margherita Missoni and Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani.

Italian media had previously claimed that Pierre’s older brother Andrea Casiraghi was the groom’s witness, while Borromeo s octogenarian grandmother Marta Marzotto – a rather eccentric figure in Italy’s society circles – reportedly acted as a witness for the bride.

Beatrice’s family members confirmed in attendance: Count Carlo Ferdinando Borromeo and Countess Paola Marzotto, older brother Carlo, half-siblings Isabella, Lavinia and Matilde, with their respective husbands, which include Fiat heirs and Italian oil tycoons.

Italian newspaper La Stampa had previously claimed that the religious ceremony was to be held on the islet Isolino di San Giovanni, one of the most secluded islands. The closest town to the island is Pallanza. According to a source who declined to be named at the local municipality, the Borromeo family also put in a request to ban lake navigation within 500 meters off the coast of the islands involved in the celebrations. When reached for comment by PEOPLE, the municipality would not comment on whether it would be granting the temporary restrictive order.

The religious ceremony will be followed by a reception to be held at Rocca di Borromeo di Angera – aka, Borromeo Castle – a medieval fortress overlooking the Lake Maggiore. It houses the Museum of Dolls which includes a collection of more than 1000 pieces.

For the civil ceremony last Saturday, Beatrice wore two different Valentino Haute Couture creations. Incidentally, the model-turned-journalist’s uncle, Matteo Marzotto, was previously the president of the Valentino Maison, when it was part of the Marzotto textiles group.

According to Italian magazine Oggi, the couple have set up two wedding registry lists – one in Milan and another in Pierre’s native Monte Carlo. One is at the luxury goods emporium Czarina in Monaco, which sells bespoke furniture, antiques, porcelain, jewelry and rare objects. The other registry is in Milan at the Taschen bookstore, renown for its unique collection of rare books.

In addition, the couple suggested charitable donations be made to the AMADE foundation, a charity that helps children around the world. The foundation was founded in 1963 by Pierre’s grandmother, the late Princess Grace of Monaco.
