Sihanoukville: A Russian guy and a khmer girl (Translator) were arrested by Sihanoukville police while they were trying to sell counterfeit diamond to gold seller in Sihanoukville market. It was their second times trying to sell fake diamond.

General Heng Bunti said, after the police received a complaint from the victim names Mom Chenda, 31 years old, occupation: gold seller in Sihanoukville market. She said, “she had been cheated by three Russian guys. She bought a 1.06 carat diamond for $7300 on 3, April, 2015. Then, on 12 April 2015, she went to Phnom Penh to sell that diamond that when she realized it was fake diamond. On 21 April 2015, one of Russian guy among the three called her and told her that he wanted to sell another diamond. So she organized a plan with the cooperation from sihanoukville police to arrest him. As expected, on 24 April 2015 around 11:00 am, the Russian guy appeared and accompanied by a khmer girl (Translator) with a 2.51 carat diamond. He asked for $38000. After a long bargaining, they agreed for $30500. (She was trying to prolong the time to wait for the police to come to arrest him). Around 2:00 pm, polices arrived and arrested him and the khmer girl".

Police added, “The Russian guy who was arrested following the warrant from Sihanoukville court names Vania, Male, 50 years old. He was staying at Grand Palace hotel, Phnom Penh. The khmer girl names Tep Phally, female, 33 years old, Cambodian, occupation: staff at Investment company".

I wonder how the police figured out who the boss was

Most Jewelry vendors in Sihanoukville do not sell diamond. They only sell some gem and stone i guess. I think because the Jewelry vendor was greedy otherwise she wouldn't have been cheated. She might thought it was cheap and she can make more money if she sells it in Phnom Penh. Don't ever think barang is not smart. If selling it in pp makes more money they would do it, why bother to sell it in sihanoukville.

Classic case of greed overcoming commonsense. He was $7300 up and he had to go back for more - to the same f'king seller.
