HAMILTON INDUSTRIAL POLLUTION CRAWL

Learn more about current and past challenges with industrial impacts on North Hamilton neighbourhoods. Find out about the amazing hidden gem known as Sherman Inlet – the last remnant stretch of original creek running through the lower city. Meet community members who want a say in the vision for the redevelopment of vacant industrial land in this area and learn why they have not been offered this opportunity.

WHEN: Sunday, November 29, 2015 11AM – 12 NOON
WHERE: Meet at the City Kidz Parking Lot @ 601 Burlingon St. E.
MORE INFO: 905-549-0900 or email contactus@environmenthamilton.org

See you there rain or shine.

Our opposition to the facility is summarized through the denotation N3:

Not this Company:

  • They have misled us about the pollution the plant will generate and the types of waste they will bring into Hamilton
  • They have misled us about their full intentions and their experience with operating a full-size, full-time plant.

Not this Process:

  • It is unproven.
  • It has only worked on an experimental scale.
  • They plan to build a plant 3400x bigger than their experiment and test it on us.
  • It needs organic waste to work.
  • It is not a closed loop system – garbage is not a renewable resource and waste that can be recycled is removed permanently from the loop of re-use, recycling, and recovery.

Not this location:

  • Not anywhere!
  • Hamilton air quality is already overburdened with industrial pollution.
  • The desired image of the New Hamilton is not as the Garbage Capital of Canada.
  • The Sherman Inlet was to be restored and opened for public access to the lake, not turned into a garbage dump.
  • No city needs this.
