Nominations will open next week

South Australians will have the opportunity once again to see their state's finest musicians and industry figures recognised with the 2015 return of the South Australian Music Awards, under the custodianship of the non-profit Music SA, this November, with nominations opening as early as next week.

This year's awards will be held on Wednesday, 11 November, and will mark the inaugural SAM Awards to fall under Music SA's purview, following three previous iterations directed by Fowler's Live owner Peter Darwin — over which time recipients of the evening's various prizes have included several quality tunemakers who have enjoyed national renown.

"South Australia has a great history of churning out intrinsically creative and talented musicians," Music SA general manager Lisa Bishop said in a statement.

"Some of the past winners include the Hilltop Hoods, The Audreys, Tkay Maidza and The Shaolin Afronauts."

"We can't wait to share the celebrations we have in store, and publically recognise and promote outstanding contemporary music talent in SA," she continued.

The SAM Awards, which are judged by a panel of industry experts from all around the country, also pay significant attention to the less-glamorous — but still essential — side of the industry alongside the musicians who light up our stages, with event manager Emma Coyle describing the ceremony as "an important way to recognise and celebrate those driving our music industry forward", including "venues, festivals, managers and, most importantly, artists".

"The award categories and judges have been chosen carefully to reflect this."

Those looking to be a part of the whole shindig don't have to wait long — nominations open this Monday, 3 August, and will be available on Music SA's shmick new-look website along with categories and relevant criteria so head that way to find out more when the details become available.
