The executive director of the Building Owners and Managers Association of Oregon was instrumental in the recent passage of House Bill 2546, which bans e-cigarettes in public buildings under the state’s Clean Air Act.
According to a news release, BOMA executive director Susan Steward served on a committee that helped create HB 2546, passed by the Oregon Senate on May 11.
Steward said amending the bill to include e-cigarettes in the Clean Air Act not only protects public health but “represents a significant time and cost savings for building owners who would need to renegotiate and rewrite all of their leases to allow e-cigarettes in their buildings.”
Gov. Kate Brown is expected to sign HB 2546 into law on May 27.
