Guilty pleasure? McDonald’s cheeseburgers, although I try not to have them too often.

Career plan B? Running a big American-style open-pit barbecue.

Earliest memory? Travelling across a very foggy Severn Bridge with my parents when I was about five, to see family in Wales.

Where is home? Twickenham, where I’ve lived for 13 years.

Who would play you in a movie of your life? Benedict Cumberbatch or James Corden.

Biggest bugbear? Lateness.

As a child you wanted to be... A rugby player. I played until I was about 21 and was pretty good but then drinking and girls got in the way.

Secret to a happy relationship? Honesty, laughter and lots of sex.

Most romantic thing you’ve ever done? I’ve written the occasional love poem.

Most embarrassing moment? My trousers literally splitting in two at the airport on my way home from a holiday in Greece. I had no underpants on underneath.

Last meal on earth? Heston Blumenthal’s meat fruit – chicken liver parfait which looks like a tangerine – followed by his steak and kidney pudding in a little sea of oxtail gravy.

Secret skill? I have amazing knife skills in the kitchen.

What do you see when you look in the mirror? I only have one mirror in the house and try to avoid it.

Your big break? 'Being in Shaun of the Dead with by best friend Simon Pegg,' said Nick

Starstruck moment? Steven Spielberg and Clint Eastwood having a cigar together one lunchtime when I was in the U.S. working on The Adventures of Tintin.

Your idea of a perfect day? Laughter, good food, a good film and hanging out with my four-year-old son.

Best thing about being a father? Everything! He went to have his injections the other day and even that was kind of cool – for me, not him, obviously.

Favourite tipple? Lager, margaritas and PG Tips, though not in the same glass.

Hangover cure? Lots of water, Nurofen and back to bed. Then maybe a big breakfast.

What did you have for breakfast today? Two slices of sourdough toast with Marmite.

Top of your bucket list? Me and my son watching a volcano erupt.

Your big break? Being in Shaun of the Dead with by best friend Simon Pegg.

One thing that would make your life better? A Big Green Egg barbecue.

Your superpower of choice? The ability to judge when salmon is perfectly cooked.

Motto? Keep going forward.

Worst job you’ve ever done? Working in a chicken factory when I was 19 and living on a kibbutz in Israel.

Dog or cat? I’ve just got a kitten called Eric, but I love dogs as well.

Where would you time travel to? Three billion years into the future, which is about the time our sun will die. I’d like to see how it all ends.

First record you bought? ‘Pass the Dutchie’ by Musical Youth.

What do you like spending money on? Cookware. I just bought a lovely 1950s Le Creuset casserole dish on Ebay.

Style icon? Jim Royle from The Royle Family. I’m happy in a pair of shorts and a vest.

Happiness is? Me and my little boy laughing like idiots.
