VetLaunch, an accelerator program for veteran-owned businesses, is now taking applications.

The nine-week program is designed in collaboration with The Idea Village to provide business resources, mentorship and networking opportunities for business owners and family members that have served in the U.S. military.

To be eligible for the program, entrepreneurs must show they have served or are currently serving in the U.S. armed forces and/or are married to a veteran or active member of the armed forces.

Companies must be located in the New Orleans region and have less than five full-time employees. Eligible entrepreneurs can apply at www.vetlaunch.org until Dec. 4.

VetLaunch was developed by local business owner Robert Armbruster, who owns Fins Construction Company. Armbruster told CityBusiness in October that he wanted to develop a program where veterans would be able to work side by side with other vets. He spent eight years in the U.S. Marin Corps before going into business for himself.

Coinciding with VetLaunch, Armbruster is developing the Landing Zone, a coworking space that will be located at 625 Celeste St. in the Lower Garden District for veteran-owned businesses.

Selected applicants for the VetLaunch program will be notified no later than Dec. 15. The program begins in January.
