'Big Little Lies' project turns to TV
The Reese Witherspoon-Nicole Kidman project based on the book Big Little Lies
has turned the page as far as feature film ambitions, according to reports.
It is now being developed as a limited series, a la HBO's True Detective. The Big Little Lies project is not yet attached to a network.
In August, Witherspoon and Kidman received attention for optioning the rights to the novel by Australian author Liane Moriarty. The book had just been released in late July. Big Little Lies is about three mothers in an Australian seaside town linked by their young children — and a possible murder.
In more recent developments, Kidman's Blossom Films and Witherspoon's Pacific Standard production companies have teamed with Emmy winner David E. Kelley on the project, according to Deadline.com. Kelley is known for his work on Boston Legal, The Practice, Ally McBeal and L.A. Law.
