Hunter Hayes is moving from behind the microphone to in front of the camera. The 23-year-old will appear in an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon's Bella and the Bulldogs, called "I Love You, Hunter Hayes."

Hayes will appear in three or four scenes, which will be filmed over two days in Los Angeles, Entertainment Tonight reports. (The Boot has also confirmed Hayes' appearance with his press team.) The episode's storyline involves the titular character Bella being blackmailed by her teammates for skipping out on a group activity to go to one of Hayes' concerts. As part of his role, the singer will get to perform his latest single, "21."

“It’s about the spirit of a feeling, of freedom,” Hayes says of his new tune. ”It’s all about that feeling of excitement and anticipation of whatever’s next, and just happiness. It’s a celebration, it’s a celebration of life, and it’s really fun to sing live, too!”

Hayes, whose latest album, Storyline, was released last year, is at work on a new album, but he isn't sharing many of the details.

“I’ll say this: I’m in the studio, and … when I’m in the studio, I’m very cautious about it because if there’s one thing that can destroy music being made, it’s any sort of agenda, expectation and/or schedule or any of that,” Hayes tells The Boot. “Every time I’ve gone in to create music and felt free and felt like I was actually creating something, it’s turned out something I’m really proud of, so I try to keep that as a tradition.”

Season 2 of Bella and the Bulldogs will premiere on Sept. 12. Hayes is currently serving as the opening act on Lady Antebellum's Wheels Up 2015 Tour. A list of all of his upcoming shows is available on his website.
