Ed Sheeran, Elvis, or Etta James: Who Has the World's Most Popular First Dance Song?

What will be the first song you and your new husband (!!) dance to? Spotify analyzed more than 6.7 million wedding-themed playlists from around the world to determine the most popular first dance songs, and Ed Sheeran will be singing to the most newlyweds with his ballad "Thinking Out Loud."

To crunch numbers, Spotify analyzed playlists with "first dance" in the name and found the top 50 songs couples will play for their big days. Here are the top 10:

  2. "At Last" by Etta James
  3. "You Are the Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne
  4. "All of Me" by John Legend
  5. "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri
  6. "Make You Feel My Love" by Adele
  7. "I Won’t Give Up" by Jason Mraz
  8. "Everything" by Michael Bublé
  9. "Better Together" by Jack Johnson
  10. "Amazed" by Lonestar

You can see all 50 top first-dance songs here. But Spotify didn't stop there. The music streaming service also analyzed millions of wedding reception playlists in order to determine the songs couples want to hear all night on the dance floor.

According to Spotify's analysis, Journey’s classic "Don’t Stop Believin’" is the most popular wedding party track, beating out the Black Eyed Peas’ "I Gotta Feeling" and Bruno Mars’ "Marry You" for that top spot.
