Sheryl Sandberg tried to set up Malcolm Gladwell on a date

Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg also works as a matchmaker, and asked Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton to help set up a friend with author Malcolm Gladwell.

“Sheryl Sandberg . . . has a woman who she would like you to meet,” Lynton wrote to Gladwell in February 2014 in a leaked Sony e-mail. “It is a set-up, I believe. Her name is Jessica Bennett and she lives in NYC and is, according to Sheryl, very smart and attractive.”

Bennett covers gender and culture for Time and The New York Times.

But Gladwell replied, “Normally I’m all in favor of set-ups, but I’m in the middle of something a little complicated . . . But I like the fact that zillionaire tech moguls have my best interests at heart.”
