Softball roundup: Sadler, Marlboro upend Highland

Missy Sadler homered, doubled and drove in six runs on Friday to help lead the Marlboro High School softball team to a 14-0 win over visiting Highland.

Amber Mianti and Taylor Felicello both doubled twice and drove in a run, while Ashley Votta doubled and scored two runs.

Pitcher Cassie Lapointe picked up the win, as the Iron Dukes held the Huskies to one hit. Michaela Raffaele had Highland’s lone base hit.

New Paltz 11, Rondout Valley 5 — Ally Pannuto homered, singled twice and knocked in two runs for the host Huguenots.

Karly Giancola cracked three doubles, singled and drove in five runs, while Bridget Bennett doubled, singled and drove home a run. Teammate Allie Defoe singled three times and drove in a run, and Adriana Crimi doubled and knocked in two.

Bennett picked up the win, striking out 10 batters. She scattered seven hits, walked one and allowed five runs.

Arlington 20, Carmel 8 — Corrine Badger was 3 for 3 with two walks, four runs scored and five RBI to lead the visiting Admirals.

Rachel Vecchiarelli (3 for 5, two runs scored, four RBI), Kiley Besko (4 for 5, four runs scored, RBI) and Rachel Brideau (2 for 4, two-run homer) each contributed.

Brideau pitched a complete game, letting up seven hits and fanning seven batters.

Arlington (5-5) hosts Ursuline (10 a.m.) and Nyack (2 p.m.) in the Beams Memorial Tournament Saturday.

Beacon 14, Ossining 7 — Sydney Dexter went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI for the host Bulldogs.

DaVonia Lamar finished 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, while Kamron Haran finished 1 for 4 with her first varsity hit. She also scored a run and pitched a complete game.

Beacon (2-10) visits Haldane Thursday.
