H.S. roundup: Gautier, Rhinebeck boys tennis defeat Roosevelt

Behind Alec Gautier’s 6-2, 7-5 win over Kush Patel at second singles, the Rhinebeck boys tennis team defeated host Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, 4-1, on Friday.

Jamie Derbyshire won at third singles, beating Cory Gallinger 6-3, 6-2.

Mitchell Hutchins and Derek Livesey defeated Luckner Bellavue and Linsky Lundy 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles, while Tanner newman and Sebastian Gaddis topped Peter Rhinevault and Sebastian Ottaviani 6-4, 6-3 at second doubles.

Naveen Chowdry picked up Roosevelt’s sole win at first singles, beating Andrew Tyson 6-4, 6-1.

Marlboro 4, Highland 1 — Yazeed Haidaoui beat Dhruv Odedra at second singles to help lift the host Iron Dukes. Claude Stephens beat Doran Baker at third singles, 6-0, 6-1.

At first doubles, Anthony LoPiccolo and Marc Melita beat Gianluca Cutugno and Shekhar Nirala, 6-1, 6-7, 6-1.

Massimiliano Cutugno defeated Jordan Watson 6-3, 6-2 for the Huskies’ sole victory.

John Jay 6, Roy C. Ketcham 1 — David Taylor defeated Armando Avila in first singles 3-6, 3-6 to lead the visiting Patriots.

Ketcham (1-6) hosts Ossining at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Our Lady of Lourdes 5, Mahopac 2 — Kevin Huang defeated Matt Arrigo in second singles 6-0, 6-4 to lead the host Warriors.

In third singles Cliff Wen topped Jared Raiola 6-1, 6-1. Martin Yuan and Alex Giangrasso beat Valtrim Nikqui and Dom DiLieto in second doubles 6-4, 7-6, 7-4.

Lourdes (4-6) visits Somers at 4:15 p.m. Monday.

John A. Coleman Catholic 4, Pine Plains 1 — At first doubles, John Hafner and Joshua Sharac defeated Jarod Hoban and Jonathan Wright, as the visiting Bombers fell.

New Paltz 5, Elleville 0 — Alessandro Mauceri claimed a 6-2, 7-5 victory at first singles to help lift the host Huguenots late Thursday.

Noah Kalus won at second singles, 6-0, 6-1 while Isaac Cheruiyot won at third singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The first doubles team of Owen Sheeky and Elijah McKee won 6-0, 6-2, and Caleb Sheedy and Logan McPherson won at second doubles 6-2, 6-2.

The Huguenots improved to 7-0.

Onteora 5, Marlboro 0 — Charles Benfer lost at first singles, 1-6, 4-6 for the host Iron Dukes late Thursday.

Anthony LoPiccolo and Marc Melita lost at first doubles, 2-6, 6-7.

Boys golf

Eric Rizzi shot a 7-over par 42 at Southern Dutchess Country Club for visiting Beacon, but it came in a loss to Haldane, 229-251, late Thursday. Dom Maglio carded a 44 for the Blue Devils.

Beacon's Ralph Orzo shot a 43.

Girls golf

Allyson McPartland shot a 40 to lead Arlington to a 290-307 win over Beacon at par-36 James Baird Golf Course.

Teammate Kayla Bauerlein shot a 49.

Emily Kidd shot a 49 for the Bulldogs.

Boys track and field

With 96 team points, Beacon won its 2016 Steeplechase Jumpfest late Thursday.

Rayvon Grey and Terrel Davis combined to win the long jump at 42-feet 3 ¾ inches. Teammates Mars English and Malachi Maloney combined to win the pole vault (21-0), while Grey and Richard Kish won the triple jump (61-7).

Dominic Reid and Davion Omari combined to win the shot put (79-6).

Noah Mikstay and Matt Goldsmith won the high jump (11-9), as the Patriots finished second with 45 team points.

Zachary Ropes, Jaheim Jones, Alex Scotto and Conor Whelan of Our Lady of Lourdes won the sprint medley relay (3:36.1).

Girls track and field

John Jay scored 54 team points to win the Beacon Steeplechase Jumpfest late Thursday.

DeAnna Newman and Lauren Bailey won the pole vault (17-6), while Stephanie Ertel, Alyssa DeMichael and Maureen Froehlich took the shuttle hurdles (53.3).

Jummi Akinwunmi and Paige Baisley of Beacon took first in the high jump (9-0), while Dera Boone and Tiarra Boone won the triple jump (61-7) and the long jump (29-8).

The Bulldogs finished third as a team with 36 points.

Haldane’s Abby Stowell and Catherine Parr won the shot put (55-1).
