For the second time in three days, the Ossining High School baseball team got the better of Beacon.

Following a one-run loss on the road to the Pride on Wednesday, the Bulldogs lost 3-2 to Ossining in Beacon on Friday. They will now turn to pitcher Brendon Malouf to be the proverbial stopper on Monday, when they visit Arlington in Freedom Plains.

“We’ll have Malouf on the hill and he’s having a good year,” said Beacon coach Bobby Atwell, whose team fell to 5-6-1. “He’s a tough pitcher and we’ll be looking to rebound from some one-run losses.”

Although he wasn’t pitching against Ossining, Malouf doubled. Teammate Matt Bozsik collected two hits and finished 2 for 3.

Beacon scored two runs in the first, but the Pride answered with two runs in the third. Ossining broke the tie and plated the game’s deciding run in the fifth.

Beacon High School's Lenny Torres pitches to a hitter from Ossining on April 29 at Beacon.

“We played hard,” Atwell said. “Their pitcher did a good job, bouncing back from a bad first inning. He gave up three hits in the first and gave up two the rest of the game.”

Added Atwell: “It was another well-pitched game.”

Bulldogs' starting pitcher Lenny Torres proved that, tossing six innings. He scattered four hits and struck out five batters.
