A dog whose beating was caught on video is gearing up for adoption.

Gizmo, a small 2-to-3-year-old white dog, was beaten by his owner,Theophilus Burke, 37, of Brooklyn on Dec. 28, 2014, at Pulaski Park in the City of Poughkeepsie, police said.

Burke is accused of torturing and injuring an animal,a misdemeanor, and is scheduled to re-appear in City of Poughkeepsie Court on March 10 at 9 a.m.

The dog is under the care of the Dutchess County SPCA and will be ready for adoption, police said.

On Jan. 29, with the help the of New York Police Department, the Poughkeepsie Police Department rescued Gizmo in Brooklyn and brought him back to Dutchess County. Gizmo received care at the Mid Hudson Animal Hospital in Hyde Park.

Gizmo remained there until Wednesday when Burke gave up his rights to the animal.
