A City of Poughkeepsie clothing store was robbed by two men with a gun late Monday afternoon, police say.

It's one in a slew of crimes in the past few weeks in Poughkeepsie but police don't think the incidents are related, city Sgt. John Zeltmann said. Police have found no patterns for the crimes. They're happening at various times of the day, on different days of the week.

Patrols are on the street, and "everyone is being vigilant ... it's definitely gotten busier" in terms of criminal activity, Zeltmann said.

Just before 4:55 p.m. Monday, two Hispanic men went into City Fashions on Main Street, police said. One of them had a handgun.

The cashier described the man who displayed the gun as 5 feet, 2 inches with a thin build, 25 to 30 years old, wearing gray pants and a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

The second man wore a red jacket with the hood pulled up. No further description is available.

Cash was taken during the robbery. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact city police at 845-451-4142.
