A preliminary 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck near the Palm Springs area Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor struck at 10:30 p.m. about 11 miles from Indio. It was widely felt across the Coachella Valely and residents as far away as Temecula reported feeling the quake.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
