French Quarter bartender stabbed in face; Suspect tackled by witnesses
A man is behind bars and another is recovering from a stab wound to the face after an incident Friday morning in the French Quarter.According to the New Orleans Police Department, William Coleman, 55, was taken into custody Friday for the stabbing that occurred at Double Play Bar on Dauphine Street.NOPD detectives said his arrest comes after officers were notified that he caused a disturbance in the bar that resulted in the victim, the bartender on duty, to tell Coleman to leave numerous times.The situation escalated when Coleman allegedly removed a knife and stabbed the bartender in the face. Shortly after, he fled but was stopped by several bar patrons.According to the NOPD, officers found Coleman and the patrons near the intersection and arrested him on aggravated battery complaints.Paramedics took the bartender to a hospital for treatment. He is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.Coleman is being held on $50,000 bond for the incident. A court date has not been set.  13484466
