Long before her judging days on American Idol, headlining Las Vegas residency and historic tribute to Selena Quintanilla at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez was an up-and-coming dancer and singer — and, of course, star of the 1997 film Selena. But let’s backtrack to when the first single off J. Lo’s debut album On the 6 was released.
Selena’s Family Says Jennifer Lopez ‘Owned It’ With Tribute Performance
“If You Had My Love,” released 17 years ago today, served as a cautionary tale for admirers who might one day have a chance with the budding starlet. Bottom line: liars and cheaters need not apply. But really, who in their right mind would even think of cheating on J. Lo – today, or back in 1999, when her “crossover” hit dethroned Ricky Martin‘s “crossover” hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca” as the No. 1 song in the country on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. At the time, Lopez also became the first artist to top the Hot 100 with their debut single since Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time.”
As for the muy caliente music video, we find ourselves a world where an Internet search for the “sexiest woman in the world” puts J.Lo instantly on your screen via webcam. You can even select where she was located in cyberspace from an array of some questionable choices (bathroom)? But hey, it’s your fantasy. Not enough heat? Kick up the tempo with a high-energy dance track (aka the remix). Still not hot enough for you? Cool off with the woman you’re infatuated with by watching her shower. Although in reality, that’s even hotter.
