UFC 200: Conor McGregor annouces he is back on fight card for Nate Diaz rematch

In the greatest tradition of fight sports, Conor McGregor, the current UFC featherweight champion, has retired, un-retired, been struck from a fight card and been added all over again.

Just days after UFC president Dana White confirmed that McGregor would not be fighting at UFC 200, McGregor tweeted that he would indeed be headlining the event and complete his re-match with Nate Diaz.

McGregor tweeted his return to the fold on Monday afternoon, reversing the stance of UFC management which had appeared to banish him for failing to turn up to a promotional event in Las Vegas. He stayed in Iceland to train.

McGregor has become the sport's most-bankable name and his re-match with Diaz, who was an upset victor in their recent bout, should provide another blockbuster for the sport.

It was a considerable back-track for White, who had seemed to brush McGregor altogether following his absence from the PR trail.

"I just don't see how that's fair," White said. "(Fighters) came in from Poland, Brazil. The fight is three months away, that's why we do it this early so as not to interfere with training and lives. People want Conor to fight. I want him to fight, but it's not right.

"Am I disappointed? Conor has done great things. I am not mad at him, it is what it is. It is an unpopular decision, but it is the right decision."
