While a lot of messaging apps like Viber, Messenger, WhatsApp are gaining ground in terms of the general market, when it comes to apps for business, Slack is fast becoming one of, if not the, most popular ones out there. While their desktop and web-based apps are pretty much satisfactory, their Android app still needs a lot of improvement. They’re very slowly getting there by adding more features and functionality with every update. In the latest one, you get Android Wear support plus some improvements in notifications.

Of course the most significant part of the update (if you have a smartwatch running on this platform) is that Slack finally has Android Wear support. You will now be able to reply to messages through voice, just like other apps working on the platform. You will also be able to view previous messages in a thread, which is pretty important for a business messaging app like Slack. The supported functionalities are pretty bare bones at this point, but they will probably improve more as time goes by.

The latest update also includes an updated way of how notifications are handled and displayed, although how is still unclear at this point. The newly-introduced in-app browser also receives some improvements, specifically when it comes to sharing both within Slack and outside of it. You also have the usual bug fixes and improvements that every app needs.

You can update your Slack app to version 2.13.0 as it has started rolling out to users. You can check if it has reached you by visiting the app’s Google Play Store page.
