There were no reported injuries Monday after someone in a SUV opened fire with an airsoft gun on a car pulled over on the side of the road, Anchorage police say.
The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Northern Lights Boulevard, just east of Lake Otis Parkway, said a statement from the Anchorage Police Department. Police described the SUV as an older, black Ford outfitted with a lift kit. The SUV may be a Ford Explorer, police said.
Jennifer Castro, police spokesperson, said the SUV was driving westbound on Northern Lights. The other car had pulled over to help a vehicle in distress on the side of the road, Castro said.
The driver told police "this other vehicle started firing what looked like rounds at him from what looked like a gun," Castro said.
Police were on scene Monday evening investigating, she said.
Police said in a statement that "multiple projectiles" went through the vehicle's rear window, but no one suffered injuries. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 907-786-8900.
