Lawrence police are investigating a homicide after a stabbing victim showed up outside of an area McDonald's and died at a hospital a short time later.

Lawrence police are investigating a homicide after a stabbing victim showed up outside of an area McDonald's and died at a hospital a short time later. Officers were called to the parking lot of the McDonald's in the 1300 block of West 6th Street shortly after 6 a.m. Monday because an individual outside the restaurant was bleeding.McDonald's employee Chris Chavez tried to help the man. He took off his shirt to try to stop the bleeding."I didn't see any movement. That was the first thought that came into my mind, that either he is dead or not doing well," Chavez said.First responders treated the man, who appeared to be in his forties, and transported him to an area hospital where he later died.Investigators followed a trail of blood back to the 700 block of Arkansas Street, where they think the man was stabbed.Police have not released the victim's name and they have not announced any arrests.Anyone with information regarding this homicide is asked to to call the Lawrence Police Department at 785-832-7509 or CrimeStoppers at 785-843-TIPS(8477).  A reward of up to $1000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in this case.

McDonald's employee Chris Chavez tried to help the man. He took off his shirt to try to stop the bleeding.
