Event Details

Restaurants might be all business in the front.
But we know chefs can throw a proper party in the back.

Every night at restaurants around the world, before the doors open for service, line cooks and servers come together to enjoy the staff meal. Long considered a labor of love, these meals are a chance for chefs to test new recipes, cook off the beaten path, experiment and strut their stuff. This is your chance to get an insider peek, without having to don your chef whites or server's uniform.

Join Heritage Radio Network and Leiti Hsu (host of WORD OF MOUTH with Leiti Hsu) on Monday, March 30th, for a walk around tasting at All’onda as a group of our favorite chefs recreate their most beloved staff meal. Chris Jaeckle (All'onda) Nick Anderer (Marta + Maialino), Elizabeth Falkner (Women Chefs and Restauranteurs), Leiti Hsu (Heritage Radio Network) and Sam Mason (Oddfellows Ice Cream Co.) will provide the dishes, while beverages will be expertly paired by Yana Volfson (Cosme).

Our stellar cast of beverage partners will keep the drinks flowing (think natural wines, local beers and cask-finished spirits), while we raffle off an incredible lineup of prizes from our industry friends.

Join us for an unforgettable night as we bring the secret dishes from the back of house...to the party in the front.

Hey, hey! This week on Eat Your Words, guest host Erin Fairbanks is turning the table on Cathy Erway, chatting with her about her brand new book "The Food of Taiwan." Possibly the only cookbook to open up with a tale of an assassination attempt, Cathy goes on to explain how she came to be inspired to shine the light on this intriguing part of the world as well as her personal connection to the cuisine. Explaining that it's not just about bubble tea, Taiwanese food and its culture is touched on throughout "The Food of Taiwan" with Cathy highlighting the fresh markets, street vendors, and regional specialties. After the break, book photographer Pete Lee joins the show and shares his thoughts on the beautiful landscape that Taiwan provided for the visual base of the book before aiding Cathy in describing a few recipes featured. Tune in for a great show!
