Paris Saint-Germain are set to make a mammoth offer for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror have reported that the French giants are willing to pay Real Madrid star Ronaldo, 30, a deal worth a staggering £250,000-a-week after tax. This would be the equivalent of £500,000 per week by Premier League standards, ruling Manchester United out of the race.

United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed at the weekend that the club were interested in re-signing Ronaldo, who left United to join Real for a then-world record £80m in 2009.

"We are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable," said Van Gaal after United's 2-0 win over Watford. "With Ronaldo, let's wait and hope."

Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic earns a reported £220,000-a-week after tax at PSG and the Ligue 1 side are prepared to go even higher to get Ronaldo.

United face PSV in the Champions League tonight, while Real Madrid travel to Shakhtar Donestsk.
