ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The F.B.I. in St. Louis Tuesday night released a statement advising everyone to be vigilant this holiday weekend. This after the feds warned terrorists could launch attacks tied to the 4th of July celebration somewhere in the nation.

Some fair-goers were concerned about whether the country would have a peaceful birthday party. Maggie Crist planned to go to the fair but with some reservations, “It’s concerning just because there’s so many people in one area that would be easy I guess.”

Her concern comes from reports that the Islamist terrorist threat is the highest in years. The St. Louis F.B.I. office said agents are working with their law enforcement partners to keep America safe this holiday weekend. In a statement the feds said “The F.B.I. is reminding the public to be vigilant and to report to law enforcement any suspicious activity.”

Steve Pozaric is the General Chairman of Fair St. Louis, he said, “I’ve heard of no threats to the fair.”

He said the fair has had a strong security program in place for a number of years.  Pozaric added, “The safety and security of our fair goers is our primary concern and responsibility…we’ve always had a high level of concern but were not really making a whole lot of changes to our plan.”

Stella Dixon won’t let fear change her family’s plans to enjoy the celebration which is billed as America’s Biggest Birthday Party.  Dixon said, “Don’t let them scare you, come out and have a good time they’re just trying to put us in fear of where.
