CREVE COEUR, MO (KTVI) – He was an innocent victim caught in the middle of a high-speed police chase. Keith Lamkins is in critical condition at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur. Family members say Lamkins suffered multiple broken bones, with severe injuries to his abdomen and a collapsed lung. They say he was wearing a seatbelt.
Relatives say Lamkins’ pickup truck was struck by a stolen car traveling more than 100 miles per hour at times. Destiney Lamkins, Keith Lamkins 16-year-old daughter, has started a gofundme fundraising page to help with medical expenses.
We showed you surveillance video of the crash Thursday, and reported on the chase that ended shortly after St. Ann Police set out spikes strips. Police say it appeared at times the suspects tried to run over a police officer. After the suspects crashed, police found shoplifted clothes from the Von Maur store in Lake St. Louis.
Family members we talked with say they are not critical of police chasing the suspects. They just want prayers for their loved one’s recovery. They are also working on setting up a bank account dedicated to help with medical and recovery expenses.
